Book club, 4

So, it looks like the book for November is The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay. At least, I assume so given that the blog poll doesn't want to divulge its many mysteries (like the results, for example).

Is it too much to ask that blog polls be of high quality, flawless, and completely free?

John Galt, what post date would you like to shoot for?

Book club, huh? Sounds fun...maybe. :)

Given my undergrad major and my field of study in graduate school, I haven't read for pleasure in MANY years. I am still recovering from the burnout of reading so much in school. On a daily basis I read the newspaper, sciptures and "newsy" magazines (my favorite right now is Time).

So it might be fun to once again pick up a book and read it for pleasure. I am willing to give any book a try, so just tell me which one.

LOL

I think I typed about the same thing when a book club was first suggested. I had mixed results, as I kept looking at the work of art as a textbook. :-)

If anyone is intersted (i'm full of opinions today - go figure). I'm close to halfway through and I very much enjoy the story.

Happy reading.

enduring: it's The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon.

L: you're the book club master. it's not a heavy read. maybe 2 weeks? if anyone objects, then we can go longer. and let's do the discussion posts on your site.

Okay JG, I just called Barnes and Noble and they have it in paperback, so I am off to buy it right now... It says it is over 600 pages!!! Read that in two (2) weeks??? I DO have a life! :) Contrary to what some might think... :)

It may take people a while to get a copy of the book and read it, even if it's an easy read. And I kind of like the idea of one official club title a month, so maybe we should go for a date more at the end of the month. Let's say the 27th. That way people can read it over Thanksgiving break...
