Book club, October

I tried to make a blog poll multiple times on multiple days, and the Internet blog demons conspired against me. So, just comment here your vote for October's book (you can be anonymous or not). The choices are:

I suppose write-ins are welcome too, although last time I asked for other suggestions there was a stony silence across the land. :-)

can I just say that we should do the book Samantha suggested...just so she'd HAVE to read it. My vote goes for They Were Noth Ashamed.

but of course I'd be exempt from reading such material because of my marital status :-D

not related to the book club but i just wanted to say something to L...

during General Priesthood session the words of Elder Nash STRUCK me as if he had written them precisely for me, for my soul, for my situation (although i admit i HATE talks that begin with fishing stories).

then, at the end of his talk, did you notice that he closed with his "ardent" testimony of the Savior?

i thought of you L, our "ardentmormon". i almost laughed to myself at first because it felt like a signal... hey, maybe L IS Elder Nash!!! :-) i realize that you're not (but maybe you are? lol) ... but I felt strength in that moment knowing that you and another other and loyalist and all the others were probably sitting there too watching the same conference and feeling the same connection and needing the same confidence and healing from the apostles as I did. it felt good.

i love you guys.

JG

ps. for the book, Kavalier and Clay was my suggestion... it's FABULOUS but since i've already read it and I had already read middlesex, it's not as fun to be part of the book club. so i vote for Twilight. i'm not into vampires but one line in the review caught my eye: "Twilight captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires." I'm in. But please READ Adventures of K&C... it's SO GOOD. And sorry Sam for not choosing your book but I want to read fiction right now. Nothing too heavy - trying to escape the real world:-)

Johngalt! I definitely noticed when he said "ardent"! Although, his talk mostly made me feel like a sham, because I'm in fact not as ardent as I should be. ...Not exactly general authority level of spirituality at the present time. Still working on it.

I was going to title a post "ardent" and talk about that stuff, but you've saved me the time now. There it is.

Plus, you should get a gmail account to use just for blogging. You can keep it anonymous and then you are reachable other than through only comments. Let me know if you need an invitation.

Attempting, you mean your immarital status? ;)

John Galt, you said "fagulous!" :) (Gay friend from BC _only_ says it that way).

I say Twilight. I'm not a vampire person, but the other two just don't do it for me. Not that I'm going to read it as I get ready for National Novel Writing Month and still pretend I'm a college student...

I've read twilight and her next one in the series. I enjoyed them but will put in my two cents just the same.

I'm in the middle of "They Were Not Ashamed." I like it. I've already started using the information for my kids. It's been helpful. So I will continue to read this one and post my comments later this month. It is a good read for hetero/homo married an unmarried (including certian Premish types).

And John, it's funny you should mention GP for Saturday night. Though I got stuck on a metal chair and my @$$ hurt for the last hour, I very much enjoyed E. Nash's talk. Although I missed the ardent phrase. Possibly my butt cheeks had gone to sleep by then and I was trying to revive them. And no, dont ask how. LOL

Oh, I TOTALLY noticed the "ardent" comment and thought of all you guys. And then I thought of how funny the term "ardent" got me thinking of all us happy SGA folks and most everyone else around me didn't think for another millisecond about "ardent."

My vote is Twilight for October, because I already have the book and need a reason to read it. That will give me time to get to a bookstore and buy "And They Were not Ashamed." Don't laugh, it really will probably take me a while to fit that trip into my schedule. I'm a loser like that.

Halloween is around the corner: Twilight.

Ardent? I heard it, but I don't get it. I must be living up to what's left of my hair-color.

come on, it's already the 3rd and the Great and Terrible -L- hasn't made up his mind.

we're all waiting... *cough cough*

See, having the results beforehand totally changes the voting, because I would have voted for Kavalier and Clay except that it's out of the running this month. I think Twilight during October is too good to pass up, as santorio mentioned.

So, that gets my vote and puts Twilight in the solid lead. Shall we say get your posts ready for around Oct 27? That gives us a few days before Halloween to discuss.

Kengo, ardentmormon is my blog address.

Yeah, I noticed that after I posted. Like I said. I'm living up to what's left of my haircolor.
