Male urinals

I interrupt this stuffy discussion of In Quiet Desperation to bring you the following information: the context sensitive advertising in gmail saw fit to notify me just now of the availability of male urinals at Target. In case you're in the market... now you know.

So, um, in what context were you discussing male urinals, and with whom?

How kind of them to bring that to your attention! *shrugs*

Fob, I have not nor do I plan to discuss urinals. My only guess is that the AI bots of google find some association between "gay," "medical," and "male urinals," the former two having a place in my e-mails and blog comments that are forwarded to my e-mail.

Santorio, I'm assuming you're talking about a different kind of urinal (i.e. not the little plastic container that allows you to pee in the comfort of your convalescent bed). Either way, maybe I should be discussing male urinals more. I'll take Google's advertising suggestion under advisement.

Am I the only one who is a little bothered that my gmail triggers advertisements? Perhaps I'm just paranoid. It's a brave new world, after all...

-L-: It's okay with me if you don't discuss urinals. I promise not to feel deprived.

Ah. I hadn't clicked on the link before now, so I assumed we were talking about the kind Santorio refers to, and I thought this morning in the shower, "Why specify male urinals? What other kind is there?"

"And for that matter, why is Target selling urinals?"

Sam, it's true, Google is doing its best to become the corporate Big Brother of the 21st century, but they are honest about it. They tell you when you sign up that, basically, your email belongs to them and they'll use its content for their purposes. Or something to that effect.
